Women and Hi Tech

One Source for Organization

When it comes to organization, one knows it's always better to have everything in one place. This is true when it comes to planning events ranging from award banquets to committee meetings.

Women & Hi Tech, an organization of women and men whose goal is to attract, develop, retain, support and promote women who are interested in technology, through networking, mentoring, education and professional development has learned this is true.

The organization defines technology broadly to include science, engineering, health care, information systems, computer science and other established and emerging technologies. They strive to serve women in any field in which technology has had an impact, starting in grade school and continuing through their professional careers.

Women & Hi Tech was established as a non-profit organization in July 2000 and was created to address the specific needs of women in technology-related industries in Central Indiana and to encourage more women to consider careers in technology.

For the past six months, the board members and program committee has used Bravelo.

"We use it to help organize our special programs, award banquets and other events," said Renee Brochhagen, member of the communications committee for Women & Hi Tech. "As a whole, our board uses it for minutes and by-laws. It's wonderful to be able to have all that information in one place."

Brochhagen notes that a main advantage of the program is that every member is able to look at the same document. "The amount of time we spend to find information is reduced, and the search feature and the ability to organize folders is wonderful," Brochhagen said.

The organization has used the program for six months, and was introduced to it through Julie Nahvi, an employee at Bitwise Solutions and member of Women & Hi Tech. "BitWise is very approachable. They strive to help us and are more than happy to meet with us. They were able to give us insight on what might be a better product for us to use."

If the organization did not use the program, Brochhagen says they may have used something on the net, but knew the security level wouldn't be as high.

"In the past we would e-mail information back and forth," Brochhagen said. "It was often difficult to determine which document was the most current. If it wasn't for Bravelo, I don't know what we would have used."
