WFYI Winefest

Not Just for the Working Class

It began as a tool for construction companies, but the collaborative software, known as Bravelo, has moved up in society. Now the program is used for black-tie events, promoting public television and many other important events.

This year, Bravelo played a key role in organizing the 3rd annual Winefest for WFYI. The event, which was held in February, attracted 900 people, raising money for the public television station. Planning the event was no small task, just ask coordinator Lisa Robertson.

"I had to coordinate teams of people," Robertson said. "There were 12 individuals all representing different departments."

Bravelo allowed Robertson to coordinate those involved, even from a remote location.

"Sheets of paper concerning the Winefest from years prior were faxed to me," Robertson said. "As manager of the workspace on Bravelo, I was able to create folders and organize the workspace. I made corresponding folders and the coordination benefited."

Robertson had been introduced to Bravelo when she was conducting a comparative study on software. When she began planning for the Winefest event in the fall, she began using the program.

"In the future, Bravelo will be the tool we use for event coordination," Roberston said. "IT's a really good tool. Many project management consultants do not work on site. Bravelo makes it easier. People can put information in and retrieve messages after working hours. It fits in to busy schedules."

Along with helping to plan the event, Roberston points out that Bravelo is invaluable for record-keeping. "It's easy to coordinate information, and has a wonderful feature for searching out the documents you need. When we completed the event, we put in final documents, and then placed in on CD. We can access the information when it comes time to plan for next year."

Bravelo allows her to access the Internet, e-mail documents, check and verify information and track records and development.

Robertson wasn't the only one pleased with the event. WFYI told her the coordination for the event was the best ever and was extremely complimentary.

"It's hard to pick just one asset of the program," Robertson said. "Everytime I use Bravelo, I became better. I love introducing new people to this program. It has a wonderful ease of use, and people really seem to like it and use it. That's the key to a successful program, making sure people use it."
